House Rules and Club Policies

 

As a private club, the following policies have been implemented to provide a congenial atmosphere. Below are the house rules.

General Policies top

  • Cellular phone use is restricted to the areas in front of the Reception Desk, restrooms on the 1 st floor, corridor housing public phones on the 2nd floor and in the 4th floor lobby.

  • Laptops and texting by cellular are permitted so long as they are silenced.

  • Business Center is to be utilized by members and overnight guests only.

  • Account balances are due in full on receipt of monthly statements. A past due account will incur a late payment fee of $30.00 for each month the account remains in arrears. All accounts ninety days due are subject to suspension. Questions about monthly statements or account balances should be directed to the Accounting Office (212-596-1220). A resignation letter must be sent to cancel a membership.

  • The Clubhouse is open from 7 AM until 11PM. Members and guests occupying bedrooms may enter the Clubhouse after 11 PM to access their bedrooms only, however, they must show their room key to Security upon entering the Club. For the safety of our members, please have your membership card available for presentation when you visit the Clubhouse.

  • Papers and documents should be handled and displayed discreetly in the Tiger Bar & Grill, subject to the discretion of management. The use of cellular phones* is not permitted in the dining rooms.

  • Quiet discussions and the use of papers and portable computers by groups of no more than three are permitted in the Member’s Lounge. Subject to the discretion of management, such activity may be terminated if other members are being disturbed. The display of merchandise or business products is not permitted within any public areas of the Clubhouse.

  • No food or drink may be brought in from the outside for consumption inside the Clubhouse with the exception of members and guests consuming food or drink within their bedroom.

  • No food may be brought into any Club sponsored events/programs when food is not furnished for the particular event/program.

  • The Fourth Floor is reserved for members and guests attending a private function or a Club sponsored event/program.

  • Members are required to notify the Membership Office, within 15 days, with changes of residence, employment, occupation, or other pertinent data that may affect Club mailings and/or membership dues.

  • Pets are not allowed inside the Clubhouse, except by permission from management.

  • Minors (under 16 years of age) are prohibited from using the fitness center facility.

  • Minors accompanied by an adult may play squash and occupy the athletic lounge.

  • Guests are permitted to wait for members in the lobby only.

  • The Club's address or telephone numbers may not be used on business related materials.

  • The addresses and telephone numbers of members may not be revealed except with member’s permission.

  • Working Press and members of the media are not permitted in the Clubhouse except by permission from management. Photography and audiovisual recordings of any kind are not permitted inside the Clubhouse except by permission from management.

  • Club employees are not to be sent out of the Clubhouse by a member.

  • Cash tipping of club employees is not permitted (barbers, physical trainers, and masseurs or masseuses are not Club employees).

  • Check cashing is available at the Reception Desk under terms established by management and subject to available funds. Limited amount is $100.00.

  • The Club cannot be responsible for articles left in the checkroom or in other areas of the Clubhouse left unattended. The checkroom is not intended for long-term storage of articles. Items left for more than 30 days will be discarded.

  • Safe deposit boxes are available at the Reception Desk. Valuables should not be left in bedrooms.

  • The Club bulletin board, located in the athletic facility lobby, may be used by members subject to the discretion of management.

  • All comments, suggestions, requests, or complaints should be made in writing to the House Committee via the Executive Office.

  • Club management is empowered to enforce the House Rules on behalf of the House Committee.


Dress Codetop

  • Business Casual Attire is permitted throughout the entire Clubhouse. A more Relaxed Casual Attire is permitted in the Tiger Bar & Grill, the First Floor Lobby, the Squash and Fitness Center, and the Library.

  • Acceptable Business Casual Attire includes collared shirts, casual pants, slacks, skirts and dresses. Clothing must be neat and presentable.

  • Acceptable Relaxed Casual Attire includes business casual attire as well as jeans, knee-length shorts, and athletic shoes or sneakers.

  • The following attire is not acceptable: shorts (except, culottes and knee-length shorts), T-shirts, tank tops, sweat suits or jogging suits, lycra or spandex garments,baseball caps, flip-flops, ripped or frayed clothing and/or footwear and similar apparel.

  • Members and their guests are asked to respect the sensibilities of other members by striving to uphold standards of dignity and good taste in wardrobe selections.


Smoking Policytop

In compliance with Article 13-E, Section 1399-N et. Seq. of the Health Law of New York State, smoking is not permitted in the Clubhouse except as follows:

  • Guest Rooms - Smoking is permitted in designated rooms.

  • All Other Areas – No Smoking


Cellular Phone Policytop

Cellular phone use is restricted to the areas in front of the Reception Desk, restrooms on the 1 st floor, corridor housing public phones on the 2 nd floor and in the 4 th floor lobby.


Guest Cardstop

Requests for Guest Cards for use by family or friends must be made by the member through the reception desk or the Membership Office. The Card entitles the guest to use all Club facilities. When requesting a Card, the member must include his account number, name of the guest, and the date(s) the guest will be using the Club facilities. Guest Cards are valid for a maximum period of two weeks. By requesting a Guest Card, the member agrees to guarantee payment of all charges incurred by the guest. A separate bill for charges will be sent to the member either to be paid by the member or to be forwarded to the guest for payment. A guest is permitted to settle his account with a major credit.

A Guest Card may not be issued to the same guest more than twice in one year.

When a Guest Card is activated, a $5.00 service charge is placed on the member’s account.


Dining Policiestop

  • Papers and documents should be handled and displayed discreetly in dining areas, subject to the discretion of management.

  • The use of cellular phones is not permitted in the dining rooms.

Bedroom Reservationstop

Bedroom reservation policies are as established by the House Committee. The Princeton Club can accommodate members and their guests in single, twin, double, queen, or king bedded rooms. The bedrooms are a valued asset of The Princeton Club. A priority has been established for Non-Resident members, provided their reservations are made 10 days in advance. It is necessary to limit the number of bedrooms reserved for guests of members in order that our members can be accommodated. The following bedroom reservation policies govern:

  • Members wishing to book more than 5 rooms for their guests must either send or FAX their request to the Front Office Manager.

  • A member cannot make a reservation for the same night each week more than 60 days in advance.

  • A member may reserve a bedroom for himself/herself and guest for a maximum of two weeks.

  • Members of reciprocal clubs may reserve bedrooms for themselves, but cannot reserve bedrooms for their guests, pursuant to the reciprocal club arrangement policies.

  • Check-out time is 12:00 noon.

  • Check-in time is 3:00 PM.

  • Cancellations will be honored only if received by 4:00 PM on the day prior to arrival. Full charge will be made for rooms cancelled after this time. Reservations made after this deadline, and then cancelled, will be charged also.

  • In a "no show" situation the individual will be charged for the first night, and unless we hear from that person the following day by 1:00 PM, the reservation will be cancelled.

  • All reservations made 5 days or more before the date of arrival will be confirmed in writing.

  • Guest rates apply for all non-members except the spouse, parents and children of a member. An additional guest charge will apply for guests of members.

  • Guests may not reserve rooms directly with the Club. Only Club members may reserve rooms for guests.

Event/Programs Reservationstop

Event reservation policies are as established by the House Committee.

  • Club events and programs are open to members in good standing and their guests. A member may not sign up a guest for an event or program unless the member will be accompanying the guest.

  • Members are encouraged to make advanced reservations and respect RSVP dates to avoid cancellation of events and programs. Out-of-Club ticketed events (including, but not limited to, theatre events) are final sales and non-refundable.

  • Events and program reservations and cancellations may only be made through the Program Office (800)628-6710 or (212)596-1263 during regular business hours (9:00 AM to 4:30 PM), Monday through Friday. No other department is authorized to accept reservations or cancellations.

  • Cancellations must be received by 4:30 PM two business days prior to the event or program in order to avoid incurring a charge. All cancellations received after this deadline and no-shows will be charged the full price of the event or program.

  • Free Events: A $10 fee will be incurred if members do not cancel reservations by noon on the day of the event.

  • Members must obtain a cancellation number at the time of cancellation to ensure proper credit.

Squash and Athleticstop

Athletic facility hours are as established by the Squash & Athletic Committee.

  • Minors (under 16 years of age) are prohibited from using the athletic facilities.

  • The exercise room is available for member use on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seasonally. The exercise fee may be charged annually or on a per-use basis.

  • Steam rooms are available weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. ONLY when an attendant is on duty.

  • Cancellations of court time must be made one day in advance (24 hours) before court time or full charges will be made. This applies to lesson reservations as well.

  • Dress requirements for the courts: White clothing, non-marking sneakers and safety glasses. Attendants are instructed to enforce regulations if not observed.

  • Lockers are available in both the Men's and Women's Locker Rooms. The annual charge includes rough washing for members only. Members may not share lockers.

  • The Squash courts are open weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on weekends from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seasonally. Attendants will be on duty during these hours.

  • The Squash Pro will be on duty weekdays and on weekends for appointments.

  • Squash balls are the property of the Club, available for play but not possession.

  • Racquets and gear may be purchased at the Pro Shop and paid for or charged to the member’s account.

  • Lock Boxes are available near the Pro Shop for valuables. Safe deposit boxes are located at the Reception Desk.

  • Guests must be accompanied by a member in order to use the facility.

  • Court reservations may be made five days in advance between the hours of 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM. The amount of time booked may be either 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or one hour depending upon the court selected.

  • Reservations may be made for Massage and Personal Training.
